Live-in care
Round-the-clock support that lets you stay safe and comfortable at home.
When home still feels right
For many people, the idea of moving into residential care can feel daunting, especially when home represents comfort, familiarity, and a sense of independence. Live-in care offers a supportive alternative, providing 24-hour assistance while allowing clients to remain in the place they know best.
At Carpenders Care, our live-in care service provides continuous, person-centred support tailored to each client’s routines, preferences, and changing needs. A dedicated home care specialist lives in the client’s home, offering reassurance, companionship, and practical support throughout the day and night.
With consistent care, open communication, and flexible care planning, live-in care helps clients remain safe, independent, and connected to everyday life at home.

What does live-in care include?
Our live-in care services are tailored to each client and may include:
- Personal care (such as washing, dressing, grooming, and continence support)
- Medication administration, reminders, and prompts
- Support with mobility, transfers, and safe movement around the home
- Meal preparation, hydration, and nutritional support
- Companionship and emotional reassurance
- Support with daily routines, hobbies, and meaningful activities
- Domestic assistance (such as light cleaning and laundry)
- Support with appointments, shopping, and community access
- Overnight reassurance and support (as needed)
All live-in care is provided by DBS-checked home care specialists who receive ongoing training and supervision. We prioritise continuity of care by carefully matching clients with home care specialists and minimising unnecessary changes. This helps to build trust, comfort, and confidence.
Care plans are regularly reviewed and adapted as needs change.
Who is live-in care suitable for?
Live-in care is suitable for adults aged 18+ who require ongoing or round-the-clock support but wish to remain living independently at home. This includes clients living with:
Complex health needs
Physical disabilities
Dementia or Alzheimer’s
Frailty
Long-term health conditions
Palliative or end of life
Parkinson’s disease
Recovering from illness, surgery, or hospital stays
It is also ideal for individuals who feel anxious about being alone, need regular reassurance overnight, or who would benefit from consistent, one-to-one support in familiar surroundings. Live-in care can be arranged short- or long-term and adapted as needs change over time.
Your live-in care questions answered
How does live-in care differ from visiting home care?
Visiting home care involves scheduled visits throughout the day, whereas live-in care provides continuous, around-the-clock support. Live-in care is ideal for clients who need ongoing supervision, reassurance, or assistance.
How many hours will my live-in home care specialist work?
Live-in home care specialists work for an agreed number of hours per day, which are defined at the outset of the plan and will vary depending on the client’s individual needs. Your specialist will have breaks throughout the day to enjoy some free time and will go to sleep at night, but will be available should you require assistance.
Can live-in care be arranged quickly?
In many cases, yes. Following an obligation-free consultation, we’ll work with you to arrange appropriate support for yourself or your loved one as quickly as possible (subject to availability and individual needs).
How much does live-in care cost?
The cost of live-in care is calculated based on the client’s individual needs and the number of hours of care they require. In some cases, local authorities may help pay for live-in care; contact us for more information.
