End of life home care

Compassionate, dignified care that supports comfort, choice, and peace at home.

Gentle support at home when it matters most

When someone you love is approaching the end of their life, having the right support in place can make an incredibly difficult time feel more manageable. Many families wish for their loved one to remain at home, surrounded by familiar comforts and people they trust, rather than in an unfamiliar hospital setting.

At Carpenders Care, we provide compassionate end of life care at home that focuses on comfort, dignity, and emotional reassurance. Our home care specialists work alongside families and healthcare professionals to provide sensitive, person-centred support that respects each client’s wishes and changing needs.

With calm, consistent care and open communication, we help families focus on what matters most: being together, in comfort, at home.

What does end of life home care include?

Our end of life care services are tailored to each client and family, and may include:

  • Personal care delivered with dignity, privacy, and respect
  • Support with comfort, positioning, and gentle movement
  • Medication support, reminders, and prompts (as directed by healthcare professionals)
  • Emotional reassurance and companionship
  • Practical support for daily needs around the home
  • Support for family carers (including respite and reassurance)
  • Overnight or extended support (including waking nights or live-in care where needed)
  • Close communication with families and relevant healthcare professionals

All care is delivered by DBS-checked home care specialists who receive ongoing training in end of life care, safeguarding, and compassionate communication. Care plans are regularly reviewed and adapted as needs change, ensuring support remains responsive, respectful, and focused on comfort.

Who is end of life home care suitable for?

End of life care at home is suitable for adults aged 18+ who are living with a life-limiting illness or who require palliative support and wish to remain in the comfort of their own home.

The NHS considers that a person is approaching the end of their life when they are likely to die within the next 12 months. The duration of care will depend on your loved one’s condition; it can last for a few days, months, or even longer than a year.

End of life care is also suitable for families who want additional support alongside existing medical care, helping to ensure their loved one is comfortable, safe, and treated with dignity, while giving family carers practical and emotional reassurance during a very difficult time.
