Respite care

Short-term home care that gives family carers time to rest, with total peace of mind.

Flexible respite for family carers you can rely on

Caring for a loved one can be deeply rewarding, but it can also be physically and emotionally demanding. Without regular breaks, even the most dedicated carers can become exhausted, overwhelmed, or even unwell themselves.

Respite care offers short-term support that allows family carers to step back, recharge, or attend to other commitments, knowing their loved one is safe and supported at home. With Carpenders Care, respite care at home provides reliable, person-centred support delivered by trained home care specialists.

Whether you need cover for a few hours, a few days, or longer while you have a break or recover from illness, we tailor respite care around your loved one’s routines, preferences, and needs. Continuity, dignity, and comfort are maintained while you take time for yourself.

What does respite care at home include?

Our respite care services are tailored to each client and their family, and may include:

  • Personal care (such as washing, dressing, grooming, and continence support)
  • Medication administration, reminders, and prompts
  • Support with mobility, transfers, and safe movement around the home
  • Meal preparation and hydration support
  • Companionship and emotional reassurance
  • Support with daily routines and meaningful activities
  • Domestic assistance (such as laundry and light cleaning)
  • Support with attending appointments, running errands, and community access
  • Overnight support (including waking nights or short-term live-in care, if required)

All respite care is delivered by DBS-checked home care specialists with ongoing training and supervision. We prioritise continuity of care where possible, ensuring that familiar routines are followed and detailed handovers are in place so care remains consistent and reassuring.

Care plans are reviewed to ensure that support remains safe, respectful, and aligned with the client’s usual care.
